Here are some of the people involved with Vision Music Group (VMG):
Ian McGregor Smith is an artist of amazing diversity. Whether it be conducting a full scale music theatre production, or leading his own Smooth Jazz ensemble he can be found at the helm creating wonderful music. He is a composer, producer, music minister, music teacher, pianist and vocalist. His solo CD “Freedom” still receives airplay internationally and has also received critical acclaim. As a keyboardist Ian draws his inspiration from Bob James and Joe Sample while as a singer from Al Jarreau, as well as many other jazz and classical singers.
Not only the world's greatest Spoonist, he is also a dazzling entertainer and fine percussionist and vocalist. His contribution as a composer and performer to Vision Music Group is one-of-a-kind.
With experience from writing children's musicals, to teaching about the spoons as a musical instrument, and performances with Motown groups such as The Supremes, audiences and musicians of all types know he is a wonderful performer and composer.
A Kyoto, Japan-based Japanese Jazz ensemble, their first release with Vision Music was in 2004, a CD entitled “At The Bridge”.
Their second CD, "Crossroads", has been completed and released in the spring of 2009. The deep-rooted tradition and beauty of Japan can be felt in their music, as well as a surprising touch of the New World.
A jazz vocal ensemble under the direction of Ian McGregor Smith. This fine group of singers often provide background vocals to VMG recordings. Spectrum has appeared in concert with other VMG artists.
An engineer and drummer with VMG. Vision Music recordings are often recorded and/or edited at his studio. Kevin also appears in concert and on recordings as a drummer with VMG.
This band's name is an acronym of Chicago, Motown, and Canada. The significance of this is that the members of the group are from these locations; the feel and sound that results from these divserse backgrouns is very deep.
The band includes Osee Anderson from Chicago, Lorenzo Spoons Brown from Detroit, while Ian McGregor Smith, Ryan Fontaine, Kevin Venney, and Ray Chattergee are from Canada. |
